This article describes the intervention of the Christ of the Church of Santa Maria del Mar del Cabanal of Valencia. This work called the Negret by the faithful to devotion, was revarnishing, with a considerable total oxidation giving rise to the nickname with which he is known. It also showed considerable shock and loss of pictorial film was hidden behind layers of varnish. Different tests, revealed the different changes that occur from the bracket to the different paint layers, aiding in the subsequent intervention of conservation and restoration and restoring the majesty with which this work was created.
