The heritage, along with everything connected with intervention on this, should be seen as something alive and immersed in a world which is currently deep in what has been described as the digital era. It would thus be useful to apply a new reading of conservation and restoration based on these new characteristics and the needs of the society that enjoys this heritage. The aim of this article is to display the new possibilities opened up by the virtual domain for the world of conservation and restoration of Cultural Assets. Starting from classic theories, when the symbolic value of the work is brought in as part of the values to be restored, a much broader virtual field than mere restoration technique is defined: from the recovery impossible works to didactic applications. All of this is done through a work compiling the examples studied, showing not only the advantages offered by these new techniques, but their purposes traced throughout the history of conservation and restoration.
