Three old colored photographs were treated at the Conservation Laboratory of the National Museum, New Delhi. These photographs had been pasted to cardboard which had deteriorated. The gelatine layers were also affected; because the gelatine was water-sensitive, the photographs were first protected by a facing of Japanese tissue paper using 5% poly(vinyl acetate) as an adhesive. The damaged cardboard was carefully removed from the back using water, a sharpknife, and a spatula. The photographic paper was reinforced with two layers of Nepalese tissue paper and starch paste. Lost colors were retouched with water colors and transparent photographic colors.
