Abstract
The history and purposes of The Workshops of the Bavarian Office for the Care of Monuments are described. The problems incurred during a number of conservation treatments of polychrome wooden sculptures are discussed. The examinations made before the conservation do not alone support the restorer during his work, but they often give information of value forthe history of art.
