Abstract
Points out that on the medieval three-dimensional object of art, the polychromy is not a later addition, but a dimension of the work from the beginning which articulates the forms. This should, therefore, be given great importance not alone on works where it has been maintained nearly intact, but also where it is only found as remnants. The complicated and until now very little examined history of polychromy is briefly discussed. -- AATA
