Abstract
This paper discusses the treatment of a large painting and focuses on the design, construction and function of an alternative adjustable aliminium spring stretcher and dismantable frame. Commercially produced and available aluminium profiles were used to construct the stretcher. Additional adjustments and specially designed details and fittings enable each side on the canvas to be double keyed and stretched separately, while it is still on the wall, without having to remove the painting.
