Abstract
A German Passion of Christ cycle in the collection of the Walters Art Museum has been restored many times since it was painted in the late 15th century. Before entering the collection in 1909, the eight, large, individual panels were split in two and mounted onto wooden backings. Throughout the 20th century, the paintings were treated on an individual basis, reflecting changing conservation materials, treatments and philosophies of the times. -- SCMRE
