Abstract
The implementation of an integrated collections care programme in the Rijksmuseum Twenthe consisted of an object-to-object monitoring of the condition of the museum’s collections, introducing standardization to the condition surveys and regularity in condition registration, determining valid priorities, developing and annual budgeting system and ensuring computerized information retrieval in order to facilitate decision-making, planning and setting priorities. Implementation of the programme based on two synchronized cycles entailed the development of a checklist format in order to undertake condition monitoring of the diverse collections, of an adequate grading system within an indicator framework and of an adequate database structure, and the establishment of a system for introducing regularity to the programme. The programme still needs to be complemented with a user’s manual for the database as well as for the checklists, and requires complementary digitized photographic documentation. -- SCMRE
