Abstract
The example of certain important mineral raw materials, particularly quartz for silicon and flint glass production makes it more and more obvious how important both defined high degrees of purity and homogeneity have become since the development of very efficient measuring methods in such fields of high technology as high frequency engineering, semi-conductor engineering and communication engineering. This is also true for minerals from which germanium, gallium, arsenic, phosphorous, indium, antimony, etc. are extracted. The increasing miniaturization in the semi-conductor field, the likely network of light-conducting cables for communication, covering whole continents and the beginning of optoelectronics are major backbones of that tendency. Any natural raw material no longer satisfying the demands will be replaced by a synthetic product from hydrothermal growth, fusion growth, flame hydrolysis, plasma melting and other methods. This will make it necessary, following the proper dynamic of that development, to tailor the whole material logistics for high technologies accordingly - not only when extracting the raw materials, but also for the process engineering methods still to be developed.
