Outlines the history of the outstanding Musée Historique des Tissus in Lyon and its holding of rare European and Oriental textiles. In addition to its very old and valuable textile collection, the museum houses a library of over 7, 000 books and documents pertaining to the silk industry, textile history, and the decorative arts. An enormous collection of samples, particularly of French production since the 18th century is also reported. An adjoining building refitted to meet international standards houses the new restoration and conservation center. -- AATA
