Description of the excavated material from tombs of the Late Bronze Age (end of the 2nd millennium BC) around Kara-Kala in Southern Turkmenia. In women's graves were found spinning works, knitting and sewing needles and blades with associated handles which correspond to contemporary carpet shearing knives. These were compared to previously excavated material from the same period of Iran; the same implements were found to be present. This may indicate that the date of pile carpet technology should be pushed back to the 14th century BC from the 5th century BC (Pazyryk carpet). -- AATA
