This report is a summary of a lecture by Lucy Commoner of the Cooper-Hewitt Museum. The development of a textile conservation laboratory is described, with particular reference to the lab at the Cooper-Hewitt. Before designing the lab and choosing equipment, a series of basic questions was posed and answered to determine the requirements to be met. Other conservation labs were visited and suppliers of equipment were consulted. A detailed description and floor plan of the completed lab at the Cooper-Hewitt are given. -- AATA
