Abstract
High resolution solid state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is an experimental technique with potential for chemical characterization of complex natural materials such as wood. Lists a number of studies used. The 13C NMR spectra of solid wood samples were obtained using the Cross Polarization/Magic Angle Spinning (CP/MAS) technique. A braker CXP-200 spectrometer operating at 50.3 MHz for 13C was employed. The effects of chemical or physical treatments on materials such as wood can be examined. Delignification can be followed. It is possible to detect differences in relative proportions of various functional groups. -- AATA
