Abstract
The author suggests using a sponge with cold water and possibly a mild detergent to clean modern patent and enamelled (not shiny) carriage leathers, followed by careful drying and polishing with a chamois leather. Both finishes are usually now polyurethane based. Some people renew shine on worn modern patent with silicone furniture polish.
