Abstract
A bronze church bell which fell down and broke in 1699 at the Church of Our Lady in Kalundborg, Denmark was recast in 1702. Accounts from 1702, still in existence, contain an unusual amount of details about the materials and the manpower that went into the process of production. Among the materials are found references to milk and chalk. The bell was cast just outside the church in which it was to serve as was customary at the time. The bell is still in service.
