The Conservator-Preparator of the Milwaukee Public Museum describes some results of treating wood and wood fiber specimens with the fortifying preservative HX187 which simultaneously served as an adhesive agent for strengthening, an insecticide and fungicide, a moisture-resistant agent against mildew and warpage, and a mild cleanser for wood, wood fibers, gold and gold-leaf. The ingredients of HX187 in approximate quantities are 10.0% Mineral Spirits, 67.5% Xylol (solvent drier), 20.0% Non-alkyd Resin and 2.5% Phenyl Mercuric Succinate (30% solution).
