Abstract
Electron microprobe analysis supports the theory that high-nickel iron was smelted. Ancient documentary evidence for Chalybean iron is investigated and compared with what artifactual remains are available. The smelting of iron sands was not satisfactory, but finding a method for doing so (i.e., identifying the proper flux) is the next step in this research. -- AATA
