Abstract
The subject is a pair of Igi bars, parts of the lacquered wooden saddle estimated to date back to the 15th century. For the reinforcement of the wood, an isocyanate type resin (Washcoat B) was used. The superfluous liquid left on the surface was washed away with acetate. For reinforcement of the wood, epoxy resin (Araldite SV 426) was used to check the warping and peeling of lacquer layers.
