This itabi (stele-like stone monument) with scenes of Buddhist invocation and worship engraved in low relief, bears an inscription dated 1485 A.D. and is made of a thin slab of chrolite-schist. Due to the soft and fragile quality of the material, it was broken into two parts at about the middle. After testing the strength of the adhesive (epoxy resin, Araldite CY230), the broken parts were joined. Before and after the repair, detections of interior damage of the stone through supersonic wave and gamma-ray radiography were carried out.
