A discussion of the implications for conservation of the increasing number of exhibitions, loans from museums, and transport of works of art. The author, who is coordinator of the ICOM working group on the care of works of art in transit, suggests that attention should be paid to: a) assessment of condition, b) damage evaluation, c) environmental standards, d) case construction, e) packaging, f) environment monitoring and control. -- AATA
