Elemental and lead isotope analysis of material from Crete and Cyprus show that the Minoan ingots from the Cretan palaces did not come from Cypriot copper. The origin of the Cretan ingots such as those from Hagia Triada is still at present unknown. The gold/silver ratio and the lead isotope ratios have proved especially useful for provenancing slades. -- AATA
