The article examines coarse ceramic material associated with salt production, probably the remains of salt production from two inland centers in West Britain, Cheshire, and Worcestershire, during the Iron Age (5th century BC, Roman invasion). Excavations at Droitwich, Worcestershire, revealed extensive evidence of salt production, especially very coarse, sandy vessels used for brine storage or evaporation. A detailed petrological and mineralogical description of the ceramics is given. -- AATA
