The fragment is unusual in that clearly one substantial part had been cast onto the other, but the patination was completely different. Qualitative analysis showed the main piece to be of unleaded bronze, but the cast-on fragment was of leaded bronze. Metallographic sections showed cast structures, but some unusual stress twinning was present in the cast-on piece, presumably caused during the cooling. -- AATA
