The uses of phosphate analysis as a means of locating and interpreting archaeological sites based on ten years' field work in East Anglia are described. Practical details of the sample collection and on-site analytical procedures are given together with a discussion of how phosphate analysis can be successfully integrated with other survey techniques such as aerial photography, magnotometer surveys, fieldwalking, and especially soil magnetism to provide maximum information retrieval from the soil. -- AATA
