Abstract
Current British legislation and recent literature on insect pest control are reviewed. Effective and safe methods of detection, monitoring and treatment of insect infestation, for a wide range of museum materials, are discussed. It is demonstrated that museum collections need active care and attention to maintenance, whether in store or on display. Woodborers and pests of keratinous and cellulosic materials are described.
