Abstract
Beeswax and plant gum were isolated on the upper layers of Egyptian limestone tombs from the late antique and early medieval periods. These substances were identified with the aid of IR-spectroscopy. The tombs were covered with beeswax or plant gum to protect the limestone. -- AATA
