The technique of motif lithography is introduced. Its applications for illustrating, analyzing, documenting, and reconstracting paddle-stamped motifs on cermics are discussed. The advantages that this technique has over the conventional illustrative techniques of standard photography and artistic reconstruction are described. Future publications should employ the litho graphic technique of illustration because of its objective analytical power. -- AATA
