The number of instrumental techniques applied to the characterization of Pre-Columbian paintings has progressively increased in the last decades. Different instrumental techniques such as Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Scanning Electron Microscopy-X Ray Microanalysis (SEM/EDX), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Solid State Electrochemistry (SQWVs), UV-vis Spectrophotometry, and Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), among other, have been applied to the study the pigments and inks of Maya mural painting. This text talks about this subject.
