The growing interest in our photographic past in the early 70’s and 80’s brought us not only to the spreading of texts that dealt with our photographic history but also to the conviction that the protection of such an interesting heritage was needed. There will be soon a wide range of public archives and institutions that will contain photographs as a part of their collections and that will have to focus part of their activity on the protections and conservation of this particular material. There are three interesting examples of this in Murcia: Museo de Bellas Artes, Archivo Municipal (focused on Juan Lopez’s work), as well as the Centro Historico Fotografico de la Region de Murcia (CEHIFORM). They represent three different institutional attitudes to preserve our creative past.
