Abstract
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) of so-called haematite-coated ware, of Late Bronze-Iron Age date, reveals that three techniques were used to produce the distinctive red finishes: application of crushed iron oxide, application of a clay slip, or simple burnishing of the surface. -- AATA
