Abstract
The article reviews three silk weaving concerns of which two have some historic relevance. The first is the Paradise Mill in Macclesfield which has become a Heritage centre with over half the original looms working and a silk museum is planned. The second case outlines the working life of Richard Humphries who owned Warner and Sons at the age of 15 and ended by buying the best of the looms when the Company closed New Mills and now weaves historic fabric replicas for museums. The third weaver mentioned is Geraldine S. Aubyn Hubbard who creates modern silks. -- AATA
