Abstract
This is an appendix in J.M.C. Toynbee <i>Roman Art Treasures from the Temple of Mithras.</i> The composition of the body and strainer are similar (over 97% silver, about 2% copper, plus other elements; figures given in text). The casket body was gilded and the absence of mercury indicates leaf-gilding. The base was repaired in antiquity with two alloys of silver, and solder traces remain where feet were originally attached. The site was originally uncovered in 1954 in the city of London. -- AATA
