Abstract
This paper describes the materials and methods used on early ceramic repairs. Some bizarre methods have been used and these are included. The more usual methods have been classified under the headings adhesives, metal repairs and fillers. Ancient repairs are of historical or archaeological interest and the ethics of their removal during conservation are discussed.
