Mounted cross sections were prepared from samples taken from several panels and the raised decoration to illustrate the construction of the wall painting. The cross sections were examined using optical microscopy and a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with an energy dispersive x-ray fluorescence (XRF) and powder x-ray diffraction (XRD) and polarizing light microscopy.
