Since September 1991, the Brukenthal Museum in Sibin has exhibited a wide-ranging collection entitled 800 Years of the Saxon Evangelical Church in Transylvania. The objects on display are of great artistic and historic value and of great diversity: textiles, stone, painted wood, metal, and books. This catalog examines 10 metal objects that were to be part of the exhibit but whose state required prior restoration work in the conservation and restoration laboratory in Sibin. Each object is presented with a short description of its treatment. The first category of objects (a vessel with a cover and a chalice) needed only minor intervention by specialists; the second category consisted of gilded copper objects (a book cover, a monogram of Christ, and a monstrance). The last category included four goblets with obvious damage from poor repair work with tin and from sulfur and other corrosion processes. -- AATA
