Abstract
A new Californian occurrence of sand-calcite crystals in the Cholame Hills, California, which have a peculiar crysatllographic development. Fragment of hard massive limestone similar to those furnished by these beds are widely distributed in the Paso Robles formation. Proportion of sand to calcite is about 65 to 35. The sand is: coarse and angular grains of quartz; less than usual feldspar; a small amount of heavy minerals, commonly titanite. In contrast with the specimens form Rattlesnake Butte, which are dominantly hexagonal bipyramid, these are twin crystals.
