This article describes various spectrophotometric instruments and methods for use in the ultraviolet, visible, and near infrared spectral regions. These include photographic, visual, and photoelectric methods, but not the radiometric methods so widely used throughout the infrared. Errors and their elimination are discussed, and various types of spectrophotometric standards are described.
