A series of examples taken from recent restorations of historical monuments shows that considerable errors have been made when the actual use of a building determines the way it should be restored. The colors used in the interior of a building may sometimes be determined more by modern taste than by the results of analysis. The same goes for the furniture of churches frequently arranged by giving more regard to human comfort than historical facts.
