Abstract
Analyses carried out on prehistoric paintings and pigments have given the following results: minerals identified include iron oxide, manganese oxide, carbon, clay, mica, and illite. Organic materials identified include wood and bone carbon, bat guano. Some experiments have been conducted in order to study the preparation and application of the pigmented materials. All the results are reported and discussed.
