Abstract
A brief note details the method used to clean the granite base of the Lafayette Statue in Washington. A soaker hose thoroughly wetted the surface by dripping water over it for 18 hours. Water at 230° F with Igepal (C0630) detergent applied at 5 gallons per minute with a power washer easily removed dirt and lichen. The stone was rinsed with a garden hose. -- AATA
