Corrosion is considered under two general headings. Wet corrosion, where a liquid (usually water) is present, will be dealt with first; dry corrosion will be considered in a separate final section but there are links between the two forms. For the benefit of both staff and student codes of specific learning objectives are indicated at the beginning of each sub-section.
