This guide deals with the unwanted aspects of bimetallic corrosion with the object of outlining situations where it can arise, the form and extent to which it can be encountered and the methods for minimising the risk of it occuring in service. It must be emphasised, however, that minor variations in material properties and environmental conditions can have significant effects upon the extent to which metals are affected by bimetallic corrosion.
