Abstract
Gives general information about hair, its decay, and preservation. As means of conservation, dry and wet cleaning, the use of disinfectants (only permethrin; most others may be harmful), and consolidation (polyvinyl acetate applied with a brush) are discussed. Finally states that the conservation of hair still needs more systematic research, and that appropriate storage (constant humidity of 55% and temperature of 18°C, no dust, UV-filtered light) is essential.
