Abstract
The section on weaving and weaving equipment covers the steps in setting up the loom including the preparation of the yarn, i.e., sizing. The section on weave construction and art weaves discusses how the following weaves are executed: tabby weave and its derivatives; twill weaves and their derivatives satin weaves; varied rep weaves; uneven surface texture weaves; combined weaves; simplified dräll, monk's belt, üpphamta weave; backed fabrics double weaves; weave compositions; weaves in color effects; interlocked weaves; and pile fabrics. Uses for particular weaves are indicated, such as upholstery or drapery. How to analyze a weave is explained; after identifying the yarn and the type of weave, a suitable set for the warp and weft has to be determined; directions for these calculations are provided. Additional weaving equipment is described with recommendations regarding practicality of use with the standard loom.
