Abstract
The blunting of the edges of blocks of sandstone can be used to determine their age in a range of 200 to 10<sup>5</sup> years. The same holds for basaltic fragments in a range of about 500 to 10<sup>7</sup> years. A weathered crust, which usually has a characteristic color, is produced with time on the surface of fragments of some rocks. Its thickness follows a specific relationship with time and can also be used for dating. Measure-ments have shown that the two methods are accurate to within 10-20%. -- AATA
