Abstract
Short wave ultraviolet radiation peaking at 2537A has been successfully employed with respect to questioned documents. The differential absorption between original and forged or erased inks will in many instances be photographically stronger than with the long wave ultraviolet. Because of this fact the technique might further be applied in the evaluation of graphic arts as well as paintings. The author has investigated the use of good quality glass lenses for the photography of 2537A UV and finds them satisfactory. Techniques for reflection, fluorescence, luminescence and phosphorescence are discussed as well as the application for ink chromatograms.
