Abstract
In the area of the Vrancice ore deposit two orthogonal (E-W and N-S) fault zones have been established by comparing the geological observations with geophysical data. The two fautlt zones intersect near the village of Zivotice. The Vrancice ore veins developed on NW trending fractures occur near this intersection. The paper discusses the relationship between the two orthogonal (E-W and N-S) and the diagonal (NW) structures of the Vrancice area. Three possible models of the structural history of this part of the Central Bohemian Pluton were developed. According to the first model, the Vrancice ore veins are located on NW trending, primarily tension structures, contemporaneous with the orthogonal fault zones. During the subsequent phases, vertical and horizontal shear movements were active on the NW structures. The shear movements on the structure bearing the Posepný ore vein were of the character of reverse fault and sinistral strike-slip, and on the structures with Hoffman and Babánek ore veins they were of a normal fault and dextral strike-slip type. Shear movements on the orthogonal fault exerted a slight or no influence at all on the formation of the NW stractures. On the contrary, the two other models presume the shear movements on the E-W and N-S fault zones to be of primary importance for the initiation of NW fractures either as tension or shear structures.
