Abstract
Photomicrography, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), electron microprobe, infrared (IR), and stable isotopic analyses were employed to characterize the chemical and physical composition of a fabric from Etowah, Georgia (ca. 1200). The resulting data indicate the potential for the inference of biologic, systemic, and diagenetic contexts of archaeological textiles.
