Abstract
A new technique of radiocarbon dating is presented, offering at modest expense the means to a determination that is good to the first order of magnitude. Carbon dioxide is released from the shells using hydrogen chloride (HCl), and the cleaned gas is adsorbed onto a 1:1 mixture of Carbosorb and Permafluor V. The saturated material is measured in a standard liquid scintillation counter.
