The purpose of this investigation has been to analyse and characterize the solid residue in an ancient Egyptian alabaster jar by means of some modern scientific techniques. The jar belongs to the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Inv. nr. MME 1957:2; its date is c.1475 B.C. The archaeological presentation by Bengt Peterson is to be fond in the Museum Bulletin 13. Due to the fact that it seems to be a lack of data from similar subjects analysed with modern methods some results are reproduced in the form of characteristic diagrams.
